Prepare the chicken by rinsing, drying, and cutting it into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add green chilies.
Add chicken pieces to the pot and stir to coat. Pour in chicken broth and add white beans. Sprinkle in spices and stir well.
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and stir in cream or sour cream. Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.
