- Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add olive oil and sauté chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until soft. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add ground beef or Italian sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth. Stir and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add uncooked pasta and cook according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in ricotta cheese. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and let it melt before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs.
