  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and buttermilk until smooth, then pour into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in the crumbled sausage and shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour the biscuit batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
